Supporting Partners
Climate Week is extremely pleased to have four Supporting Partners with such a strong commitment to action on climate change.
By reducing the carbon emissions of their products, services or operations, or by enabling the development of new low-carbon ways of doing things, they are playing an active and committed role in the journey to a low-carbon world. If we are to combat climate change effectively, it is essential that the major players in mainstream sectors act to reduce their own emissions, help their customers do so too, and encourage positive change more widely.
Our supporting partners are:
They describe their own actions on climate change below:
EDF Energy

EDF Energy is the UK’s largest producer of low carbon electricity and is fully committed to realising a lower carbon future. Through Our Climate Commitments, EDF Energy has launched one of the biggest environmental programmes to tackle climate change of any UK energy company. In these commitments, we have pledged to reduce the intensity of carbon dioxide emissions from our non-nuclear power plants by 60% and to lower the proportion of carbon dioxide arising from our customers’ energy consumption by 15% by 2020.
EDF Energy was the first sustainability partner of London 2012 and we are working with organisers and athletes to help reduce the carbon footprint of the Games.

H&M

H&M aims to be at the forefront of sustainability within the fashion industry. We want to offer our customers products that have added sustainability value and empower them to make more sustainable choices.
Climate change is one of the major challenges of our time, which is why we are committed to acting in a climate smart manner and to encouraging environmental responsibility throughout our value chain, including our employees, our suppliers, our operations and our customers.
Our global target for renewable energy is that at least 20% of our energy will come from renewable sources by 2020. Globally, energy use decreased by 8% in our stores from 2007-2010 and in the H&M UK sites, kWh usage per square metre of sales floor decreased by 19% between 2008-2011. We have set a global target to reduce CO2 emissions year on year by 5% relative to sales.
H&M is a signatory to the United Nations Global Compact and a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series and Dow Jones Sustainability Index Nordic.
